Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Pink (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL Top Quality

What is there to say about the iPod shuffle that hasn't already been said in the other 600+ reviews?

So here are the five things *I* like best about it:

It's small and lightweight and goes right into my shirt pocket.
It's inexpensive so if i lose or break it or if it is stolen no big deal.
I can use the controls without looking at it.
It holds just the right amount of music.
Sand doesn't mess it up at the beach.
The charge lasts a long time.

Okay, so that's six.

Anyway, I've had my shuffle for 2 1/2 years and I still love it.Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Pink (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

RCA M4304 - Digital player / radio - flash 4 GB - WMA, AAC, MP3 - video playback - display: 2" This instant

i am relatively new with mp3 players, but all that I really wanted now was a mp3 player that records FM radio. This RCA unit was the first one i purchased, and I really liked it, it is easy to use with all of the basic features of most mp3 players. BUT...the first unit would quit recording whenever it decided it wanted to..I took it back to the store and got a excahnge, the 2nd unit lasted about 2 weeks again, then it COMPLETLY froze up on me...well I then decided to give it one more chance, and again it started stopping during recordings, or it would freeze up and when you re-set the player, it loses all memory it had from before...maybe I just ran into a BAD batch of players? I doubt it, stay away from this junk, I was lucky it quit early so that I did not have to send it to RCA for warranty work, and waste more of my time...Get more detail about RCA M4304 - Digital player / radio - flash 4 GB - WMA, AAC, MP3 - video playback - display: 2".

COBY PMP3521 3.5" TFT Portable Media Player with 20 GB HDD Immediately

I bought this for my 8 year old for his birthday, as I did not want to spend a lot on a media player that he might lose or break rather quickly. I am very happy with the product so far. It works perfectly with the movies I have converted to AVI for my Centro(DIVX codec)and the sound quality is great. I was able to copy over everything I needed to from my computer just like it was a portable hard drive. We took it on a trip with us, and the battery life is very good (5+ hours). In fact, it never actually ran out of power, we were just ready to recharge. It is about the size of a Nintendo DS, so my son used his DS case to carry it, since the case that came with did not have a strap.

Pros: Sturdy, 20GB drive, easy to use, good battery life, supports WMA and MP3, great price for what you get.
Cons: Video support is not clear in manual(No AVI files from camera?), not pocket sized

I would recommend this player for children that are not ready for an iPod, as it is pretty tough, or for anyone that wants an external hard drive that doubles as a Media Player.Get more detail about COBY PMP3521 3.5" TFT Portable Media Player with 20 GB HDD.

Sony NW-E003 1 GB Flash Digital Music Player (Silver) Best Quality

This was my very first MP3 player, purchased because I naively thought that I had no practical use for a device with a larger storage capacity. ("Why would I possibly need to have something that holds over 2,000 songs?") But I loved the small size and the fact that it resembled a disposable lighter; it's just cute. I had no issues with the accompanying software, and I've recently graduated up to a 8GB Sony MP3 player. For those of us who need a little prodding to embrace all this fun and fabulous technology, I'd recommend it. But be warned - chances are you'll get hooked and soon be looking for a larger capacity player. ;-) Get more detail about Sony NW-E003 1 GB Flash Digital Music Player (Silver).

Apple iPod nano 4 GB White (1st generation) OLD MODEL Get it now!

I bought this item for its great looks, form factor and the Apple interface, but I've come to regret this choice as I primarily listen to audio books with this device. My primary issues with using this device for audio books are:
-1- Doesn't support DRM-protected Windows Media Audio (WMA) files!! That precludes me from downloading Overdrive books from my local library. Most devices at this price point support this feature and I wish Apple would too.
-2- I loose my bookmark whenever the unit is recharged (really inconvenient for books!!).
-3- I only get ~5 hrs of runtime between charges.

Also, the 'click-shift' mechanism for selecting files is hard to work with, and there have been a few technical glitches whereby all content on the iPod spuriously vanished.Get more detail about Apple iPod nano 4 GB White (1st generation) OLD MODEL.

RCA Opal 4 GB Video MP3 player with 1.8-inch Display, FM Radio, and Voice Recording (Blue) Buy Now

Mp3 players are not complicated things ... most of us can just throw the software and booklets away when we open a new package.
This player however had alot of quirks and internal problems.
I wish I had actually had the booklets for this one.
Unfortunately my son secretly bought it and threw even the receipt away.

System crashes, memory wipes, black screen, yah ... and then Grand Death March after only 5 months of use.

I say it could have been a decent player if the price weren't so high. I expect something this expensive to last longer than a year at the very least -- with constant use!

RCA Lyra RD1080 128 MB MP3 Player Decide Now

Okay, so most of the information about this item's features and usability have already been covered in the existing reviews. It's a USB 1.1 device, it's not easily searchable through its primitive "back/next" interface, and so on. (Has anyone else mentioned that if your batteries die in the middle of a song, the player doesn't "save your place" in the playlist? Say you have 30 songs, you started at #5, and your batteries die during #16. When you replace the batteries and power up, you're back on #5 instead of #16.) That's the bad news - I'm here to give you the good news.

First, although early units were tied exclusively to MMJB, later firmware fixed that problem. All you have to do these days is connect the unit (which reads as a USB flash drive) and drag MP3s into it. It's slow, but it works. Just make sure you pay attention to the way you load it, as the first song loaded is the first one played.

Second, and to my very happy surprise, I've been able to use two 2GB cards in my unit (the 1080B version) - one regular SD stick and one TransFlash/microSD chip in an adapter. I have verified that the player is reading past the 1GB threshold; it will handle the full 2GB card capacity. Of course, I don't suggest using the player's USB 1.1 interface to load a card of that size; you're much better off using a USB 2.0 reader for that. Unfortunately, the device's age dictates that it is not SDHC-compliant, so 2GB is as good as it gets - but given the other features of the unit, that's plenty.

In short, I've had this for a long time and plan to have it for the foreseeable future - as long as it doesn't die on me.Get more detail about RCA Lyra RD1080 128 MB MP3 Player.

Lowest Price ibiza Rhapsody HV18A-4G MP4 Player with Long Playback

Bought this looking for an inexpensive MP3 player that works with the Rhapsody service.

1) this player works well enough with Rhapsody-To-Go -- putting an album on the player is as simple as dragging the album link over to the player icon in the Rhapsody interface.

2) the player's menu structure and overall interface is pretty damned clunky. I could fully spec out a 10x better interface for Haier on a whiteboard in about an hour. But, ultimately, you put your music on it, it plays it, it works.

3) the biggest flaw: IT PLAYS ALBUM TRACKS IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER, not in the order they appear on the album. There is no way to change this -- you pick an album, it plays the songs alphabetically, that's it. I don't see any way to give it playlists or anything useful along those lines either (if there is, it probably won't work with Rhapsody albums).

4) it has an FM radio, which works reasonably well, I guess. I've seen reviews of the unit on the web that suggest it has a built-in FM transmitter for playback via your car radio. This is false -- it doesn't. It's a radio, not a transmitter.

Again, I repeat: IT PLAYS ALBUMS IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER, NOT IN THE TRACK ORDER ON THE ALBUM. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid!

Because of the monumental stupidity of #3, along with the overall terrible interface, I give this player one star. I really regret buying it.

EDIT: Correction -- you can also listen to every single track on the unit in alphabetical order, everything from a given year in alphabetical order, or everything in a specific genre in alphabetical order. Have I mentioned that this player loves to do stuff in alphabetical order?Get more detail about ibiza Rhapsody HV18A-4G MP4 Player with Long Playback.

Save Apple iPod 5 GB M8513LLA White (1st Generation) OLD MODEL

I've had this ipod for almost four years and it still runs like a charm. Although 5gb isn't all that much of space, I'd personally rather have this, then a nano that may be unreliable in 2+/- years. This is now a six year old ipod and I suggest if you have one...keep it for collectors sake. Get more detail about Apple iPod 5 GB M8513LLA White (1st Generation) OLD MODEL.

Discount Dell DJ5 5GB Juke Box MP3 Player

Pros: In terms of aesthetics, it is small, durable, and sleek looking. Not too big for your pocket and not too small to break with your fingers. In terms of functionality, the buttons work perfectly for all its function. Unlike the Apple iPod's, the scroll button works easily and fluidly no matter how sweater your finger is. The volume buttons are easy to reach and use in case of sudden loud or soft music. The player's menus and music selection is easy for any beginner. The sound quality has been crisp and clear for most all of my music. The equilizer settings within it become handy in case you're picky.

Cons: It lacks some of special features like games, calenders, and other tricks that iPods might provide. Without the software cd, the drivers are sometimes confusing to install for beginners. However, the dell website provides all drivers and directions for an easy install. After that, music transfer is very easy. No special programs like iTunes or Dell Jukebox is necessary.

Overall, it is a fantastic product for simply music lovers! It will do everything you need it to do.Get more detail about Dell DJ5 5GB Juke Box MP3 Player.

Buying Archos 2 Video MP3 Player 8 GB (White)

This would be a fine little MP3 player for exercising to, but not much more. The battery life is too short, at approximately 5 hours, to use for travel or to listen to all day long the way I do. And, while it's charging, it can't be played. Plus, if you're like me and turn your computer off when you're not using it, recharging this guy is a pain in the neck. Much better to have an AC adapter/charger for it.Get more detail about Archos 2 Video MP3 Player 8 GB (White).
