I was looking for a small/portable media player that I could hook to the audio/video inputs of the entertainment system in our family's minivan. The Micca Slim fit the bill perfectly. My only knock against it is that it doesn't come with a car power adapter. I had to purchase a small power inverter to power it in the car. Other than that one very minor gripe, the unit is perfect for the family on the go. Very easy to operate with the remote it comes with - surprised by how responsive it was. Picture quality is pretty good - just be sure to use the HDMI port and set the unit for HD output if you hook it up that way. Normal composite mode works great in the car. Anyway, great value for the price. Slap a $50 laptop hard drive in it and you can take your media (movies, pictures, music) anywhere! The YP-S3 player itself isn't the issue, but the Emodio softeware, the firmware and USB connection.
Half the time when you plug in the player the response is "USB device not recognized" and have to try it again.
The firmware for the player is not updated automatically. You must save the zipped file, unzip it, then copy the file from the unzipped location to the main folder of the player through the Windows Explorer. Much too involved for someone who isn't computer literate.
The single biggest issue is trying to transfer songs to the player. If you try and transfer more than a few songs, the program freezes up, EVERY time. You then have to close the program through the task manager, reopen it and try it again. Trying to load several hundred songs is an exercise in frustration.
Also, playlists you create on the player when it's connected to your PC DON'T show up on the player when you use it.
Considering the above issues, I wouldn't buy another Samsung MP3 player and wouldn't recommend one to others.

Accepts Micro SD memory; I don't understand why this feature is so rare. It gives you virtually unlimited storage.

Cons: Battery life doesn't do it for me, although this is probably why it is so small and so inexpensive.

Bought this player for about a year, just about everything worked as advertised, I have been using it mostly for watching videos especially full length movies. The supplied software converter does not do a good job in taking movies from different formats, I had to find a 3rd party application to do the conversion. The player's specs says it takes movies at upto 384kbps data rate, but I've had movies converted at 500kbps or more and the player still played them. However, from my many movies watching experience with this player, there is one glitch, or a bug, that annoys me a great deal. Very often, during video playback, the sa6185 skips to the next movie on the list when a movie is playing. This is extremely hedious when you are watching a movie in its finale and then all of the sudden the player skips to the next movie on your video list. So I always had to go back to the same movie I was watching and had to start from the beginning and pressed fast forward(by holding down the right arrow key), the 4x fast forward is just not fast enough, I have wasted a huge amount of time just to let the movie ff to the point where it skipped. This has been very frustrating and sometimes to the point that I would just give up.
