Discount Memorex MMP9008 8GB USB 2.0 MP4/MP3/ FM/Voice w/2.4" LCD (Black)

This is hands-down the worst Mp3 player I've ever owned. While in the store (Target) I found it on clearance and really liked the idea of expandable memory. I bought mine in early October and at first it seemed alright at best. I still haven't figured out where the shuffle option is (there isn't one) and there isn't an option for continuous play. Which means if you're like me, and you use it while riding a motorcycle, once your playlist ends, it won't automatically start over again so you ride in silence until you find somewhere to pull over and hit "play" again. While the hum of the bike is soothing in and of itself, it is a major inconvenience just to have your tunes die unexpectedly. I found that in order to "shuffle" my tracks, I had to edit the titles and number them - again, a major inconvenience.

But wait there's more: Suddenly the Mp3 player display stopped working. The 'power' switch refused to turn the player off and I was stuck waiting with the player perpetually 'on' which is draining to the battery, of course. I couldn't do anything with it, and now it is officially useless. The battery is fully charged and at best when you turn it on the display flickers before losing life again altogether.

I can't complain about the cover or the casing. I usually keep mine in my pocket so it didn't get too scratched and I even thought it was kinda cool looking. The sound quality definitely sucks though. Get more detail about Memorex MMP9008 8GB USB 2.0 MP4/MP3/ FM/Voice w/2.4" LCD (Black).

Buying Samsung YP-K5JQB 2 GB Audio Player with Built-in Speakers (Black)

The thing works way exactly as described. I think it could be modernized by having a larger screen and support for video, but overall I am happy with the performance of this player. My only complaint is the software that comes with it does not burn cd's very well.Get more detail about Samsung YP-K5JQB 2 GB Audio Player with Built-in Speakers (Black).

Purchase Creative Zen Vision:M 30 GB MP3 and Video Player (Light Blue)

This is one of the best MP3 players on the market. I've had mine for about 2 years now and would never use another player. The battery life is long and the software easy to use. The player itself is also pretty sturdy. I've dropped mine a few times, and other than the occasional scratch, it is in fine working order. Order Sony 8 GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Pink)

Bought this for my daughter. Very nice but when we tried loading videos we were unsuccessful. There are several how to load videos on youtube most about 9 minutes long. They offer software for $12.00 to make it easy. Will probably suck it up and buy it.Get more detail about Sony 8 GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Pink).

Shop For Sony 2 GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Pink)

This is a great mp3 player for the money, easy to use long battery life,
and very easy to transfer audio and video files to. Unfortunately A couple of days after I bought it, I noticed that its price at Amazon had decreased. After several attempts to get Amazon to do a price match I gave up. They said they have a new policy and will no longer price match. I felt kind of cheated. The player is great though!Get more detail about Sony 2 GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Pink).

Archos 504 40GB Portable Digital Media Player and Recorder (500869)

Ever since Walter Mossberg wrote a favorable review of an Archos PMP several years ago in the Wall Street Journal I have been interested in buying one of these players. I lucked out and bought a used one from a local fellow who owned three Archos PMPs, his model 504 being the oldest, which was why he was selling it. He obligingly powered it up and played samples of music and video and I was satisfied.

I use it to enjoy music and videos when I travel and also to record live performances of my wife's concert band, and also our neighborhood "garage band". I use the built in mic and the 504 allows me to record either in WAV or MP3 at my choice of sampling rates. I use 44Kbhtz/sec and I get very nice quality recordings. I download them to my laptop and edit the recordings there.

There are several ways to browse and select MP3 songs to play and I like the quality with the Archos ear buds which have a convenient volume control on the wire.

When my wife and I travel by plane, I will sometimes watch a favorite film on my 504. The screen has big, sharp and vibrant color and I can usually hear the audio above the sound of the jet engines...but the sound could stand to be about 10db louder.

Knowing it contains a delicate hard drive drive, I treat my 504 carefully and only once did it freeze up. The green indicator light told me the unit was on, but the screen was black and blank. A quick search on Google turned up the undocumented location of the reset button on the motherboard under the battery. I held down the little button for 30 seconds, and my 504 was restored to normal full operating condition.

Although I was tempted to replace the 40GB drive with a bigger one, I have decided to wait. I located an on line forum which outlined how to change hard drives, but it seemed slightly risky to me, so I will wait until the present 40GB drive fails and then, with nothing to lose, I will try to install a new bigger drive. The 40GB of storage space does, however, seem adequate to me. I have many feature movies and many albums of MP3 music stored on the 40GB drive with room to spare. I delete older files and just add new ones when I tire of the selection available.

My 504 does not feature wifi, but it can display PDF files and TXT files in case I would ever want to try reading an ebook on it.

If you are interested in the Archos PMPs, I would suggest you read as many of the reviews here and elsewhere, then shop around for a used one so you don't sink $300 or more into a product for which there is NO technical support. Again I will say that I am very pleased with mine.Get more detail about Archos 504 40GB Portable Digital Media Player and Recorder (500869).

Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Green (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL Review

I decided to purchase the "old style", ipod shuffle green model before there no longer available. If you want a nice compact with less frills, this one will do the job. I think the older shuffle modle looks best and is very easy to clip to your shirt without any added weight or if you decide, you could just attach and wear it on a iPod shuffle arm band. The music is easy to download from iTunes as I already have the iPhone, 3GS model but I dont't care to take it with me and have a big iPhone around my arm or in my pocket when going to the gym. This shuffle modle also has a water proof case which you can attach to your swim goggles to swim with. What a great Idea! You have got to get one! This older model is still the best - more compact and has better looks. I hope Apple doesn't decide to get rid of it altogether and just stay with the newer 3rd, 4th generation version. If it looks better and is more compact why get rid of it? I love mine - Buy one before there gone! Get more detail about Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Green (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

Creative Zen Vision W 60 GB Widescreen Multimedia Player (Black) Top Quality

I really like this Zen 60gig. My wife and I put a ton of songs and SNL videos on it. Helps us fly long distances if the in flight movie sucks.

We used to have the 30 gig, but it got stolen somewhere along our travels. Got the 60 gig now and it is heavier, but I have cargo pockets so it fits just fine.

Not sure if we will get a screen protector or case for it or not. Have to look around online.

We like the buttons on the right. Solid and did not break any in the year we had the 30 gig. Same buttons on the 60 gig.

Easy to delete songs. We uploaded some double copies of songs and it was intuitive.

We have not tried the voice recording part of it.

The only negative thing is the player could use some bumps on the sides. It is pretty slippery smooth outer shell. We have almost dropped ours a few times, but it only fell in our laps so far.

Radio seems nice. Don't use it much unless in the mood for news.

Be sure to charge it before your trip and it will keep you going on your next long flight, train, or car ride. (^:= Too bad they don't make them anymore. They are the best out there.Get more detail about Creative Zen Vision W 60 GB Widescreen Multimedia Player (Black).

Samsung T10 4 GB Slim Portable Media Player with Bluetooth (Black) This instant

The touch interface is terrible.

For some odd reason, the geniuses at Samsung decided to include a bookmarking feature for txt and video but not music for audiobooks.

I highly recommend against buying this mp3 player. Just go for a Sansa Clip+. Get more detail about Samsung T10 4 GB Slim Portable Media Player with Bluetooth (Black).

Please save yourself the trouble this is a piece of junk. The only thing good about this divice is the glare-free screen. The battery life is awful. It comes equiped with nothing. I bought this for my 3yr old daughter last year and she absolutely loves it. It is kid friendly and was easy for her to learn to use. It also has an extra headphone port that her brother can plug into and listen. I like being able to simply load a SD card with music, putting it in the Shaker and she is off dancing!

Good, Child Friendly product! Get more detail about SanDisk Sansa Shaker 1 GB MP3 Player (Pink).

JENSEN SMP-2GBL 2 GB Digital Audio Player Buy Now

I bought this recently. So far I've discovered that, while the packaging declares proudly that it plays .wma files it does not. You can put them on it, but when they come up they won't play and give a "not authorized" message and then turn the player off unless you scroll past the song immediately.

The manual doesn't actually tell you this, or at least I can't find it. It might be in there but the manual is impossible to read with out a microscope.

To get it to play you have to tap it for EXACTLY one second. Any longer or shorter time and it does nothing. There are supposedly seven play modes, but they take super timing on counter-intuitive button pushes to access and probably aren't worth it.
