Creative Zen Sleek Photo 20 GB Multimedia Player (Aluminum/White) Order Now

I loved this MP3 player. The software for getting music on it is super fast and easy. It holds a ton of music and is in general a great MP3 player. I started out with a Creative Zen 8gb Microphoto and was having problems with it within a month. I returned it and upgraded to this one. About a year and a half later it crapped out and is no longer usable. I took very good care of it. I have a few friends that also have Creative Zens and theirs have started having weird problems as well.
So short term its great, especially for the price but keep in mind they don't seem to be built to last.Get more detail about Creative Zen Sleek Photo 20 GB Multimedia Player (Aluminum/White).

Low Price Iriver E30 4 GB Digital Media Player (Black)

First, I am travelling, so I haven't listened to this with decent headphones and compared it against anything else. That means that I can't really comment on sound quality, except that it seems fine (the supplied earbuds are just so-so (muddy treble) but I think that's normal with something at this price).

However, the player hardware is a little disappointing - it's very light, and the plastic has a matt finish that's practical but not very attractive. Also, the front face is "dished" (the edge of the player forms a kind of "rim"). Again, that's practical - saves the screen from being scratched so easily - but doesn't look so great.

All the criticisms in the other review here are on the money. The "buttons" are simply the surface of the player flexing. That gives a clean front panel, but feels like it's not going to last. And although there's a "click" feel to them, they're easy to mix up. Worse, if you don't get the "down volume" exact, the volume goes UP (despite the "volume up button" not being the next closest button....).

On a more positive note, however, the software is quite nice. It's clean and simple, and generally easy to use (although it's not obvious that pressing and holding the right button will give you an extra menu). The LCD display isn't that wonderful, and the choice of a grey colour scheme and small album image don't help, but the layout and fonts are pretty good - it has a definite "style" that's quite modern and tasteful (although I think some people could find it ugly or too "designerish").

I run Linux, and when I connect the player to my computer, it looks just like any other USB drive - it's easy to copy music across and the player reads the ID3 information OK. Playlists are a bit more complex however - instead of using the simple text-based m3u format, it uses a binary PLA format. Fortunately someone has reverse engineered this and there are scripts available to convert to the right format (if you google "m3utopla" you'll find them; if you add my name you'll find the Python script I wrote - based on others - which also handles accents on characters correctly).

So, all in all, this isn't a great product. But the software is quite nice and the sound seems OK (I'll update this when I am more sure about that). If you want a minimal, "stylish", but slightly different player, it's worth considering, but it's no great bargain or hidden diamond...

[Later] A few extra points after using for some time. The sound quality is pretty good, although it's a bit light in the bass (the EQ can correct this). Battery life is certainly long, although 50 hours seems a bit optimistic. Two pretty major frustrations with the playlist capability: first, when you have a large playlist (hundred or more items say) it pauses for a long time (minute or more?) before starting to play the list; second there's no way I can find to easily see what you listened to just before ("playing now" doesn't link to the playlist). It seems to have issues reading some MP3 tags.Get more detail about Iriver E30 4 GB Digital Media Player (Black).

Save ibiza Rhapsody H1A030W 30 GB Wi-Fi/MP3 Player by Haier (White)

This particular product did not fit what I was looking for, and I returned it. The Rhapsody features and the FM radio seemed okay, but I was looking for an internet radio that would rival what I currently get from the Grace internet radio that I have. I just wanted the mobility of a portable radio to listen to my favorite radio stations (esp., K-LOVE) in the range of my home WiFi. Discount Memorex MMP8590-BLK - Digital player / radio - flash 2 GB - WMA, MP3, protected WMA (DRM 10) - display: 1.5" - black

This posting is to keep a promise to the Memorex Customer Service Represenative I delt with that I would post my awful experience every place I could on the Web.
******************************************************************
I bought an Memorex MMP8565 and had it just up an die and not power up for no obvious reason.

It would come back to life a few hours later, maybe but then die..some kind of intermittent or firmware glitch.

Still under Warranty, but had the worst experience I have had in sometime with Memorex Customer Service. Had no suggestions and said what was taking place couldn't and then said send unit and more money for Shipping and Handling.

I said I would consider if they would replace the unit. Couldn't guarantee that even though I told them it was an intermittent problem.

So spend more money and maybe get the same flaky piece of junk back if it chose that period to work for their tech.

So WARNING, if you think you could have a problem, Memorex Customer Service will not help you.

Cheapest Archos 104 6GB MP3 and WMA Digital Music Player and Photo Viewer, Grey (500890)

I love archos pvp's so i thought i would check out their mp3 players. I love the way music is put on and taken off the unit (drag and drop is the only way to go)! The only problem i have found is that the screen is cheap and has very poor picture. Other than that is seems like a good unit so far.Get more detail about Archos 104 6GB MP3 and WMA Digital Music Player and Photo Viewer, Grey (500890).

Purchase Creative Labs 70PF165000000 Zen MicroPhoto 8 GB MP3 Player (Titanium Gray)

I have been through 4 Creative MP3 Players (2 of which were Zen Microphotos 8GB). All 4 have eventually "frozen". I personally visited the Creative Corporate Headquarters in Singapore to have the player repaired since the US repair center in Oklahoma would no longer repair these Zen Microphotos; (I was in SG on a business trip.) Creative Singapore would not repair it either, but sold me a refurb unit in March 2009. This latest unit has frozen as well in October 2009 (only 7 months later).

The Creative website and "customer service" (LOL) are all unhelpful and not customer-focused. I have tried the "Format All", "Reload Firmware" and "Reboot" modes, as suggested. Nothing works. Even Creative knows they are selling junk, as they will no longer repair these MP3 players.

Up to now, I have resisted becoming an Apple customer (my mistake...); I will never buy a Creative product again!Get more detail about Creative Labs 70PF165000000 Zen MicroPhoto 8 GB MP3 Player (Titanium Gray).

Order Philips SA52 8 GB Flash Video MP3 Player with FM Radio and 2.8-Inch Color Screen (Black)

This was the crappiest piece of equipment i have ever owned. I have had nothing but problems with the device since i bought it.
1. When u are listening to a song and hit the arrow to return to the list of songs while the current one is still playing,if u take to long to select a new song the device will return u to the main menu which wouldnt be a problem if u u didnt have a lot of songs on there but if u do scrolling down to find where u left off is sooo frustrating.

2. The battery sign in the corner is not a true indication of how much battery life u still have. Mine will show it as having little to no battery life for at least 2 weeks and when i charge it up it flashes as being half full or even 3/4 full

3.Sometimes when u download music on ur player it will download a bunch of other meaningless files on there. for instance u have a cd downloaded on ur computer but u dont want it on the philips it will put it up anyway and one time i looked at the pictures on it and found that while it was hooked up to my computer it had downloaded every photo on my computer onto the device.

By this 3rd problem i want to take a hammer to this philips and smash it into a little tiny piece but before i could do that the 4th problem arose.

4. I recently download one new song onto my device and when i turned it on to listen to it i had discovered that it had turned everything in there to japanese writing and every song in there was gone and it keep flashing sync with media player to play this song for all 400 or so songs i have up there.

Stay far away from this device and choose something that wont make ur blood pressure rise

Where To Buy Apple iPod 30 GB White M8948LL/A (3rd Generation) OLD MODEL

A great deal for its time. This was my first real iPod and I still use it today, though admittedly now mostly as a transfer hard-drive. Small, easy to use, superior sound; I really put this iPod through the ringer and it lasted better than I had a right to expect. Just terrific.Get more detail about Apple iPod 30 GB White M8948LL/A (3rd Generation) OLD MODEL.

Apple iPod 20 GB White M8738LL/A (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL

If you need more songs and you are willing to spend $499.99 I would recommend this iPod to you. This is the second generation 20 gigabyte iPod. This iPod holds about 4,000 songs at near CD-quality. I don't have this version but I do have the 10 gigabyte version (plus another few iPods). I think Apple has designed their MP3 players extremely well. I love the white coating on the top and the metal-finish at the back. People do not see too much difference between the first and second generation iPods. There really isn't too much change accept now the scroll wheel isn't mechanical; that's the only big change. There is a cover for the connectivity ports and the 10GB version is a bit thinner than the first generation 5GB version. This iPod is about .80" in depth which is pretty thick. The 10GB is still .78" but you can still see the difference. Now iPods are really thin especially with the mini but the new fourth generation is extremely thin as well. This weights about 6.5 ounces which is kind of heavy but it will still suite you well. The battery life on this is about 10 hours which isn't too bad compared to the third generation iPod's 8 hour battery life. I would recommend you getting a case so the metal or white plastic on top will not get scatched. This iPod has really everything you need: playlists, calender, games, phone book, etc. There is only one game though (Bricks) but I love Bricks and I think you will enjoy it as well. On my 10GB version I have about 1,500 songs which fit perfectally onto my playlists. It comes with MusicMatch Jukebox but I would recommend getting iTunes. I would look into the iPod but not this one. Get the fourth-generation iPod or any other kind of iPod you like. But this is all around a very good package and especially now it's really cheap!Get more detail about Apple iPod 20 GB White M8738LL/A (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL.

Sansa Fuze 4GB MP3 Player - MXR14R004G Review

This MP3 player is small and easy to use, has capacity for an incredible amount of songs and videos, and also happens to look very well. I bought it a while ago for all those reasons, and also because, unlike Ipods, Sansa has FM radio, something that I appreciate.

From my point of view, the Sansa Fuze 4GB is well-worth the price I paid. I'm glad I bought it, and I can recommend it.
