-Simple to use
-Great sound quality with its headphones
-Attaches to computer via 35mm headphone/usb adapter

Shop For SanDisk Sansa Connect 4 GB MP3 Player (Black)

I bought this on eBay truthfully. I paid all of $30. After a simple firmware restoration, the internet radio function makes it worth every penny paid. When you are out of a WiFi area, you simply flip over to your music library of mp3s. The flickr photo of the day is a nice feature, and after the firmware is restored, it also plays videos.. a function I don't really use.

The cons: The screen does scratch easily. Mine arrived with a scratched screen also but a little Displex mostly fixed that. The battery life is shorter than the other Sansa players at about 8 hours for me. I am currently tinkering with my settings (display brightness, backlight timer) to try to get a little more time out of it. My other Sansas run from 24-36 hours on a charge. BUT... you have to expect this battery life to be shorter due to the WiFi use. That's common sense!

If you should happen to get one with the WiFi disabled, there are good instructions at forums.sandisk.com to get you on the road to internet radio.

If you still don't think this is a good deal, just check out the prices for true WiFi internet radios! You'll come back and give this one a second look.

ibiza Rhapsody HHS1A-2G Sport MP3 Player with Pedometer Top Quality

I've been looking for a weather proof mp3 player to take out on my jogs. This unit definitely seemed to meet my needs. I'm a big podcast listener so it's very important for me to have a player that will playback files in reverse chronological order (oldest podcast first). I tried all kinds of things with the HHS1A, but I could never figure out the order it would play files. It almost seemed to be random. Some times it would play a couple of files in alphabetical order and then it would skip a few and then start up again.

The display was too dim especially outside in direct sun. Even indoors it wasn't very bright. The menuing system is OK, nothing special, but you can navigate to all the menu items you need. The outside skin seems to be well sealed and should keep out rain and snow. Ultimately I decided to return the player and look for another - so far I haven't found one.Get more detail about ibiza Rhapsody HHS1A-2G Sport MP3 Player with Pedometer.

Lyra SL5016 16 GB Digital Media Player/FM Radio with Voice Recording and Full Color Display (Black) This instant

I buck the trend, so intentionally won't carry that device everyone else is carrying. Man, I LOVE this MP3 player! 16gb is a perfect size to carry my music, some family and vacation photos and a few videos. Looks great in the red tone I received, and nice big display. Tons of capacity for an amazing price. Charges with a USB wall adapter (less than $20) if no computer USB port is available. Music moves to device easily with drag and drop, photos, too. Videos are saved to device with the provided software, and that works seamlessly. Tested the radio but haven't used that regularly. Plan to add an audio book, too. I really like the "slider" style, so no messing with a hold feature or accidently pressing a button. My only extrememly mild complaint is that the casing is a glossy finish, which shows all the fingerprints, but it's usually in my pocket so no big deal. I added a protective screen so the display doesn't get scratched. I'd definitely recommend this MP3 player for any age, young or old (I'm 52).Get more detail about Lyra SL5016 16 GB Digital Media Player/FM Radio with Voice Recording and Full Color Display (Black).

Ematic 8GB Color MP3 Video Player with 1.5-Inch Screen, FM Radio and Voice Recording (Black) Best Quality

I bought this to listen to during breaks between classes and to hold my French CD's so I could study away from the computer. It works great so far.
I have all my music sorted into files and that acts like playlists. Drag and drop file system and doesn't need extra software on Vista 64bit.
Comes with regular earbuds that have no cushioning. If you have smallish ear canals like I do, I suggest buying other earphones with this player.
8 gig holds all sorts of files. It also has an e-book function, which I don't use because I hate e-books.

All in all great for what I use it for. However, if someone is spoiled by i-pods, then this may be a little too plain and a little more difficult to navigate. I know my kids can use it with no problem, so it should be fairly easy for any adult with a little mp3 player knowledge.Get more detail about Ematic 8GB Color MP3 Video Player with 1.5-Inch Screen, FM Radio and Voice Recording (Black).

Ematic 4GB Video MP3 Player with 2.4-Inch QVGA Screen, Digital Camera and Video Recorder (Black) Decide Now

First, the drawbacks:

The navigation system is somewhat complicated, but pretty intuitive once you get used to it. The buttons are, for lack of a better term, "clacky" they feel pretty stiff, there isn't much smoothness when you press on them. They work though, for now.

The included video conversion software is totally useless. I mean TOTALLY useless. I tried converting numerous different clips in formats as diverse as AVI (both DivX and XVID), MP4, FLV, MPG, etc. and not a single clip would even begin the conversion process. Pretty huge flaw for the non-tech-savvy user. I managed to get a third-party conversion tool that would convert anything that I threw at it into 320x240 FLVs that play fine on the Ematic. Other formats of video have been troublesome, even at 320x240 resolution, but to be fair I haven't done extensive testing because once I found that FLVs would play OK that's the only format that I have used.

The screen is backlit and vibrant. The video looks clean, no framerate issues or lagging. The sound is surprisingly good through the cheap earbuds that come with the player. The TV out function works perfectly. The FM tuner works just as it should, automatically scanning for stereo FM signals and storing them in memory. You can tune the radio manually as well.

The camera is pretty bad under any indoor lighting that's not super bright, but without a flash that's to be expected. Video quality shot with the camera is acceptable, though nothing special.

The ebook reader only functions with TXT files, but programs to convert PDFs to TXT do exist. The text viewer is a little funky, it wraps words in an odd way, but it's nothing you can't adjust for when you're reading.

All in all, this is a pretty good media player. It's no IPod, but it's also not hundreds of dollars either. It seems to have issues with fully supporting some video formats, but at least on my unit, it plays FLVs flawlessly. The included software is, as was mentioned above, utterly worthless. I would say that the uselessness of the software package is the weakest aspect of this media player, but the file support issues might be a deal-breaker for some.

Overall, for $50, I am quite pleased with this product.Get more detail about Ematic 4GB Video MP3 Player with 2.4-Inch QVGA Screen, Digital Camera and Video Recorder (Black).

Archos 2 Video MP3 Player 8 GB (Black) Right now

This would be a fine little MP3 player for exercising to, but not much more. The battery life is too short, at approximately 5 hours, to use for travel or to listen to all day long the way I do. And, while it's charging, it can't be played. Plus, if you're like me and turn your computer off when you're not using it, recharging this guy is a pain in the neck. Much better to have an AC adapter/charger for it.Get more detail about Archos 2 Video MP3 Player 8 GB (Black).
