where to start... the wifi function can be reinstated with a firmware upgrade/downgrade (im not sure which but its easy and the instructions are all over google).. but the yahoo radio isnt worth it in my opinion. it is a novel feature though.... you can also get video on it with the firmware change.
the controls and user interface are well designed, the circle spins to change menu choices, and if you push it there are 4 buttons on the usual sides of the circle (top is home or menu, bottom is pause/play, left and right are just that or ff rw ect...), it is pretty easy to use. you can get all the menu options anywhere by pressing up. there is a dedicated volume on the upper left side. power switch on top, touch it once for sleep mode, hold it for power off. it works well.
the sound quality is very good, it has an excellent flat eq and the other eq options actually cut the frequencies instead of boosting them. this works out to a clean powerful sound without distortion with all the eq's. i was kinda bummed at first that there was no custom eq, but the pre installed ones are good enough that it doesnt bother me anymore.
the included earbuds are actually pretty decent, but replacing them with higher quality earbuds bumps up the sound quality tremendously.(im really picky about sound quality too) I listen to all kinds of music, most everything sounds good on this.
the video quality is pretty decent, not the greatest, but probably better than you expect it to be.
battery life is nothing to write home about, its not horrible, but its not great
the screen, at its highest setting, is very bright, you can adjust it from 5% to 100% by 5% increments.
it has a micro sd card slot which with firmware changes can support up to 12 gb, ive heard rumors of 16, im sure that will happen eventually. micro sd isnt that expensive so you can bump up the storage on this pretty cheaply. It comes with 4 gigs, with the possibility of up to 16 or 20 gigs.
it has a built in speaker which is LOUD. really LOUD. the speaker is awesome.
the player itself is kinda big, about 2/3 the size of a pack smokes (shorts not 100's)..
all in all considering that you can get one of these things for 30 to 40 dollars, this is a great alternative to the other players in this price range. it originally cost $249...
the sansa connect is amazingly good if you consider its current price range.
so if your looking at a clip or another player in the 30 to 45 dollar price range consider the connect.
decent video, wi fi yahoo radio, good sound quality, ok battery, micro sd card slot expandable to 16 gigs (at least)...Get more detail about SanDisk Sansa Connect 4GB USB 2.0 MP4/MP3 w/2.2" LCD (Black).
