I like many others bought an IPOD that soon failed after the original warranty expired. Hard drive died. The price to fix it is the same as buying a new one so guess what? Apple recommends you buy a new one. Of course. They don't make them to last because if they did their profits would go down. For some reason I I thought apple products lasted longer but I was shocked with the number of people at the 'Genius Bar' with broken Ipods. It seems they don't last more than a few years if you're lucky. Throw it away and consume some more. If you decide to buy an Ipod just be aware that it will soon be in a landfill in bangladesh (we send our e-waste their because it's too toxic for our landfills) and you will have to buy the latest and greatest ipod which is 1 mm thinner.
